Beach Volleyball Tips
Anyone making the transition from indoor to the sand could use some beach volleyball tips before taking the game by storm. Knowing the basic beach volleyball rules before you try to play the game is a great place to start. One thing I will point of is the answer to the question everyone asks, can you open hand tip the ball in beach volleyball? The answer is no you cannot. You can shoot the ball from your palm or knuckle it (hoof or camel toe) but you can’t do an open hand tip like you can indoors. Another very important point to be aware of is the beach volleyball equipment you need for the sport and mainly what type of ball you should be playing with. You need the Wilson official beach volleyball ball. This ball is yellow and white with black writing. Make sure you do not buy the replica ball, if it says replica on it do not buy it! They sale the ball for $60 bucks at AVP events and that is a complete rip-off. You can get them for $35 to $40 bucks online. This is one of the most important tips I can give you for sand volleyball. You don’t want to show up at the beach with some ball that sucks. The only other ball you should even consider purchasing is the FIVB ball for international play, but by that time you will be pro and won’t need my help.
The last tip of the day is to do some plyometrics for beach volleyball before you try to bang balls on the beach. Don’t get frustrated that your spikes are going into the net, you have to learn how to jump higher for beach volleyball because the sand takes away a lot of your jumping ability.
