One very important aspect of volleyball training is learning how to use plyometric exercises to increase your vertical jump. Learning how to jump higher for volleyball can be more beneficial than any other type of training, practice or drills that you could do.

Let’s take beach volleyball jump training and see what you can do to increase your vertical leap in the sand. Jumping in sand is not the same as jumping on a hard court and different form is used because of the surface. When you have a hard court you can more easily convert your forward momentum into upward vertical jump height. But when playing on sand you cannot do this as much and for that reason you have to have a little more leg strength.

When jump in volleyball you don’t have to worry about having a ball in your hands like you do in basketball and for this reason you can add extra inches with your arm swing. The arm swing is very important when jumping in the sand because you will need all the help you can find to be able to jump high enough to spike a volleyball on the beach.

So what are some plyometric exercises that you can do to increase your vertical jump?

A great exercise that I recommend and may not make sense immediately to most is the hamstring curl. Hamstring curls are a great way to strengthen your legs in an area where you most likely lack strength currently and is impeding you to jump higher. You can only jump as high as your weakest muscle and this way you can make sure that your hamstring are not preventing you at all.

Of course doing one exercise will not make you jump a lot higher but you would be surprised how it could help. But jumping is not only dependent on the strength of your muscles, it also depends on the speed. You have to train for strength and speed to improve you power. Power is what you need to jump higher. Lucky for you there are vertical jump training programs that have the best combination of workouts to increase your vertical leap.

Click Here to see the best vertical jump program I have come across in my 10 years of searching.

Many people have wondered if they buy Jump Manual will it work for volleyball as well as for basketball. It’s obvious that the picture on the product is of a basketball player but that doesn’t mean that it is just for basketball players. Volleyball puts more emphasis on jumping than any other sport does and beach volleyball requires you to jump more than indoor does. If you want to really learn how to play beach volleyball, you will have to learn how to jump higher and especially how to jump in sand. Now the Jump Manual doesn’t have any sand training but it will covert over to the beach. Plyometric exercises can’t all be done in the sand, and some would say that you should stick to a hard surface for your plyometric training.

Does the Jump Manual work for volleyball?

Our Jump Manual review proved that it does work for volleyball and your increased vertical leap will transfer to the sand. The main thing to learn in the sand is how to approach appropriately. Doing some beach volleyball workouts will help you adjust to moving in the sand, but having the added inches to your vertical jump from doing the jump manual workout will definitely help.

Visit the Jump Manual here to see testimonials of the product from volleyball and basketball players alike.

Defense is such a big part of all sports it’s no surprise that beach volleyball is any different. Many games are won by have a good blocker on the volleyball net. Learning how to block in volleyball can improve your game like you wouldn’t believe. Most teams have one person that blocks for the whole game and the other person digs balls. Some teams will have 2 tall players and they will switch off blocking. The key to being a better blocker is being tall. You really can’t help it if you are short or tall but you can improve you vertical jump for volleyball. Increasing vertical leap is a science that involves doing plyometric exercises along with strength training to teach you muscles how to jump higher.
Blocking a volleyball involves jumping straight up at the volleyball net and putting your arms over the net as far as possible. It’s not how high your hands can get above the net for the most part it’s how far over the net you can get your hands. The best blockers in the AVP are Phil Dalhausser, Sean Scott, Brad Keenan, Jake Gibb, Matt Fuerbringer, Mike Morrison, Hans Stolfus, Matt Prosser and Joaquin Acosta on the mens side. The best female blockers in the AVP are Kerri Walsh, Lisa Rutledge, Jennifer Fopma, Jenny Krop, Saralyn Smith, Annett Davis, Lauren Fendrick, Jennifer Snyder, Angela Knopf and Tyra Turner. The best blocker in the AVP is Phil Dalhausser hands down and his height helps him with that accomplishment, how tall is Phil Dalhausser? He is 6’9″ tall and the 2nd tallest player on the AVP tour.
Beach Volleyball Block Taylor Wanket
A great beach volleyball drill that you can do to learn to jump higher is jumping from a seated position. Take a chair into the sand and place it by the volleyball net. From a seated position jump as high as you can and try to reach over the volleyball net as far as you can. Do this in sets of 8 reps. Beach volleyball training can produce great results if you do it correctly. Becoming a big block will result in having many players in the AVP want to team up with you to compete on the beach for a title and cash as a winner of one of the AVP beach volleyball tournaments.

Learning how to jump higher for volleyball will improve you game drastically. There is no wonder why the best teams have the tallest blockers. Getting up higher than the other team will get you more blocks and kills which means you will win more games and make more money. So investing the time necessary to improve you vertical jump for volleyball will be well worth it. Volleyball jump training should be as much a part of your game as peppering. The best players are doing plyometric training at places like plyo city while you are out on the beach peppering a ball around. You have to get into a gym and do a specific jumping program that will produce true results if you want to increase your vertical leap. Now, I am aware that we can’t all afford to have coaches for beach volleyball but that shouldn’t stop you from training to jump higher. There are jumping programs that have great volleyball jumping exercises that you can do to increase vertical. The best jump program on the market is the Jump Manual by Jacob Hiller and produces results fast. Click here to check out the Jump Manual. Beach volleyball training needs to encompass everything that will improve your game. Just think of being able to jump 6 inches higher! How much better would you be? You can be great if you can jump high, no matter how tall you are. Just think of the shortest professional AVP beach volleyball player in the circuit, Chrissie Zartman. Chrissie Zartman is only 5’3″ and is making money in the AVP as the shortest player on tour on the women’s side. As of right now there are no guys under 6 feet but the shortest pro beach volleyball player on the mens side is ty tramblie at 6 feet tall. These 2 athletes would not be pro if they couldn’t jump high, but it goes to show you that your jumping ability can make up for your height if you train correctly.
