Once you have your basic beach volleyball skills down what is the next most important factor in your game? Jumping! Yes you need to do plyometrics beach volleyball training to jump higher in sand. Jumping out of sand is way more difficult than jumping from a hard court because you can use all of that forward momentum and convert it into upward vertical jump height.
Jumping Exercises for Volleyball
When you are trying to learn how to jump higher for volleyball you need to focus on which plyometric exercises will benefit your game the most. The beach volleyball drills that you choose to do will incorporate jumping workouts for volleyball that will increase your vertical leap in the sand. So most jumping exercises for volleyball will focus more on your standing vertical instead of the approach. But don’t neglect the approach vert because you need it for hitting.
If you are the blocker you will focus more on the standing vert and if you are the shorter player you can focus more of your plyometric volleyball jump training on the approach vertical.
